What is the difference between wireless network consulting and a site survey?
A wireless site survey is a specific, defined deliverable: a physical measurement of your space that produces a heatmap report and access point placement recommendations. Consulting is broader strategic advisory work, it can include a site survey as one element, but it also covers things like evaluating quotes from other providers, assessing whether an existing network is fit for purpose, planning how infrastructure should evolve, and advising on equipment selection and network architecture. A site survey tells you where to put access points. Consulting tells you what you actually need and why.
How is consulting different from troubleshooting?
Troubleshooting is reactive: something is broken and needs fixing. Consulting is proactive: it is about making informed decisions before problems arise or before committing to a course of action. If your network has a specific fault, troubleshooting is the right service. If you are unsure what your network needs or want an expert view before making a decision, consulting is the right starting point.
Do you charge for an initial consultation?
Get in touch and we will discuss the scope of what you need. An initial conversation to understand your situation is always free. For more involved consulting engagements, we will outline what is involved and what the engagement covers before any commitment is made.
Can you review a quote I have received from another provider?
Yes. Reviewing and assessing quotes or recommendations from other providers is one of the most common reasons businesses come to us for consulting. We will give you an honest, independent view of whether the proposed solution is appropriate for your environment and fairly priced. We have no interest in undermining a competitor's quote if it is genuinely right for you, and no interest in validating one that is not.
We have an internal IT team. Can you work alongside them?
Yes. Working alongside internal IT teams is something we do regularly. We provide the specialist wireless expertise that falls outside general IT knowledge, without replacing or conflicting with the internal team's role. The goal is to complement what they do, not to take over.
Will the consulting engagement result in a recommendation to use Made By WiFi for further work?
Sometimes, yes. If the consulting findings point toward a site survey, installation, or managed service that Made By WiFi is well-placed to deliver, we will say so. But if the best course of action does not involve further work with us, we will say that too. Our consulting advice is not a sales funnel. It is honest guidance, and we believe that approach builds better long-term relationships than recommendations shaped by what is commercially convenient for us.
How long does a consulting engagement take?
It depends on the scope. A review of an existing quote or a focused assessment of a specific wireless challenge might be completed in a single engagement. A broader strategic review covering a complex environment or a multi-site business will take longer. We will give you a realistic timeline once we understand what the engagement needs to cover.
